Iris M.-L. Model, Honorary Chair

Born and raised in post-war Berlin, spending study time in London and Paris, Model came to New York City in 1964, where she lived for almost 50 years.

Model's career started in NYC with Rudi Gernreich, the famous fashion designer, whose showroom she co-managed. In 1968, Model became part of a small founding team launching Clinique Lab. Inc., the enormously successful international skin care and makeup company. During her professional career, Model traveled extensively and served on the boards of industry organizations. After 28 years with Clinique, Inc., Model retired as Senior Vice- President, Strategic Development, to explore her life's many other options.

Her diverse interests include the arts, environmental conservation, children's education and learning about different cultures through travel.

In 1998 she came to Big Sky, Montana, for the first time to ski and liked it so much that she returned in the summer to hike. The magic of the area was compelling enough to buy a home and hence her many years of commuting between NYC and Big Sky began.

In 2001 Model opened Indian Uprising Gallery in Bozeman, showcasing contemporary American Indian art of the Northern Plains region. Working with Native artists connected her to MSU and her involvement with student support and the President's Fine Art Series. In 2014 she received the Honorary Alumni Award from the College of Art and Architecture.

Model is a strong believer in supporting the community she lives in. She is a friend of numerous organizations in Montana, but it is the Museum of the Rockies where she has devoted significant passion and energy. She served on the Board of Trustees for eight years, two years as President, and presently serves as Vice President on the National Advisory Board.

For the love of Bozeman and Montana, Model decided to give up her apartment in NYC. Since 2013, she and her two pugs, Sophie and Hedy, live happily in Big Sky country.
